Capterra reviewers consistently call ClickUp a flexible all-in-one that replaced two or three separate tools, and value-for-money scores well thanks to the free plan. The most common complaints are the learning curve for new team members and occasional slowness or glitches, with several reviewers noting the mobile app trails the desktop experience.

OK software but not ideal

“It was ok, but generally created more frustration that it was worth” Pros: “Easy to use and assign tasks to various employees” Cons: “Frequently would lose recurring tasks, would have to recreate items every couple of days.”

Managing Tasks & Time

“For personal use I think it's great to keep your productivity on track. The free plan gives you a generous amount of options to use but if you need more options for teams you'll have to upgrade.” Pros: “This a one stop app for tasks, goals, mind maps documents the lot. Reminders and events can sync with everyone involved to ensure productivity stays high. Customer service was also pretty good.” Cons: “Their A.I feature is at best mediocre with an additional fee per month. There isn't a feature to create invoices and bill inside the app. The proofing option wasn't as robust as I would've liked either.”

A messy product

Pros: “There's a lot of interesting stuff happening with the AI integration, this software is pushing what the agentic integrations can do and I enjoy the prospect of automations in my project management software” Cons: “I can't understand how this was created, the tools here are incomprehensible. Things get lost in ClickUp so easily and it frustrates myself and all my coworkers to have to track things down every single time we have a conversation outside a top level task.”

A Sophisticated Command Center

“ClickUp serves as a highly sophisticated command center for anyone looking to streamline complex operations. It bridges the gap between granular task tracking and high-level project oversight beautifully. While the premium tiers demand a higher financial investment, the sheer depth of consolidation and time saved makes the price rate a highly justifiable expense for professionals who value a truly comprehensive digital environment.” Pros: “ClickUp’s greatest strength lies in its unparalleled flexibility. It successfully moves beyond the rigid structures of traditional project management software, allowing users to customize views(from elegant Kanban boards to detailed Gantt charts)without cluttering the user interface. Theres ability to centralize tasks, docs, and goals in one cohesive ecosystem eliminates digital friction and significantly elevates daily productivity. It feels less like a tool and more like a digital workspace.” Cons: “While the platform is incredibly powerful, its vast feature set comes with a noticeable learning curve. Initial configuration can feel slightly overwhelming for new team members. Additionally, navigating the pricing structure requires careful assessment; while the entry-level tiers are quite accessible, unlocking advanced features like complex automations and resource management requires stepping up to the higher-paid tiers, which can add up quickly for growing teams.”

Too much tool, not enough adoption

“We moved away from it. Not because it's a bad product, it just never fully clicked for our team. The flexibility that makes it powerful also makes it easy to set up poorly and hard to enforce consistency across users. If you have someone dedicated to maintaining the workspace it probably works great. If you don't, it quietly becomes a mess.” Pros: “Flexible enough to fit almost any workflow, which is both the appeal and the problem. Task management, docs, goals, and calendar all in one place looks great on paper. The customization options are genuinely impressive and it's affordable relative to what it offers.” Cons: “Too many features working against each other. The interface is overwhelming and onboarding new team members takes longer than it should.”

Lots of functionality but shady practices

Pros: “ClickUp is multi-functional and you can do a lot of things on the platform (such as track time, create workflows, store documents, create and track goals, etc.)” Cons: “They will switch your plan or reduce your features without any notice and just expect that you deal with the changes on your account.”

Powerful but Complex All-in-One Productivity Tool

“Overall, a powerful and flexible platform that boosts productivity, but takes time to learn and can feel complex for new users.” Pros: “Powerful all-in-one tool for task management, docs, and collaboration. Highly customizable with great automation and team visibility features.” Cons: “Steep learning curve and cluttered UI at times. Can feel overwhelming, with occasional lag and slower performance on larger projects.”

From Promising to a Complete Letdown

“At the beginning of this year, I acquired ClickUp licenses for my entire team. Everything seemed fine at first. The platform worked like it was supposed to, and I figured I made a solid choice. Then, three months ago, we were no longer able to use the “Notes” feature. Every time we clicked it, we received a prompt stating that we needed to upgrade to the Business Plan. That’s $19 per license instead of the $10 we were already paying. No heads-up, no explanation—just locked out. Naturally, I contacted support. They said they’d “look into it” and get back to me. They never did—radio silence. Fast forward a few weeks, and someone from ClickUp asked how happy I was with the product. I told them the truth: I was frustrated and disappointed. They said, “We’ll fix it.” Nothing got fixed. Then someone else from their team followed up, claiming the issue was resolved. It wasn’t. I replied again, let them know. Still broken. And just when I thought I’d seen it all, someone from support reached out today with this confusing explanation: apparently, for workspaces created before June 11, there's a “legacy paywall” that only allows 100 uses of some advanced time-tracking features—even on the Unlimited Plan. Whatever that’s supposed to mean. Feels like they’re just making up rules as they go. Here’s the kicker: I manage a bunch of tools for my team—tons of licenses from different companies. And out of all of them, ClickUp is the only one that’s ever pulled this kind of nonsense. Confusing policies, no communication, and a total lack of accountability. That’s it for me—I’m walking away.” Pros: “- Good project feature for marketing projects - Easy to organize the projects - Intuitive dashboard and usability” Cons: “- Hard to figure out the workload on each team member - Lack of transparency - Downgrade features that you had before”

Love the UI, but tasks sometimes get lost

“I really like the UI and overall layout, it makes working in it enjoyable. That said, creating tasks in the right spot can feel overwhelming at times, and I wish that part was a bit more intuitive.” Pros: “Moving tasks along sprints is super easy. I also like how flexible it is with task statuses, you can set up the exact workflow you need, and updating or changing a task’s status is really smooth.” Cons: “When I create a task directly in the current sprint, it sometimes feels like it just disappears. I always end up creating tasks in the backlog first and then moving them over, which gets annoying.”

A Powerful Project Management and Team Collaboration

“Apart from the learning curve, the application is excellent for project organization, team task assignment, and status tracking. Additionally, it provides email notifications to keep everyone updated.” Pros: “It provides the best options for organizing project sprints, categorizing project functions, setting task statuses, and assigning tasks to team members efficiently.” Cons: “It usually takes time to learn all the features in this product. Sometimes, when looking for specific tasks or information, you have to check whether any filters are applied, which can be a bit confusing.”
